Calgary is always a scary team. I'm not convinced that the Riders are ready to take that next step quite yet. When they're on, the Calgary offense is unstoppable. Both of these teams eat up chunks of yardage. The deciding factor will probably ultimately be Regina itself, but I'd give Calgary a decent chance by underdog's standards of winning this game, simply because if he's given the chance, Hank can put the team on his back and beat anyone in the CFL by himself.

Calgary has the better offence, IMO. This game will be decided by the play of their defence. If the defence plays like they did in the first part of the season, they will probably get blown out in a very offensive game. However, if the defence can hold up, I'd expect this game to be very close, and probably come down to the wire. I think Calgary is very capable of winning this game.

(No way the winner of this game beats BC on the turf in Vancouver)

I don't know. I like the way this SAS team plays. And BC was life and death to win a bunch of their last few games. SAS at BC for the west will be a terrific game. I just think SAS can win it. Of course, SAS must survive CAL with Burris, and that makes them dangerous. But I will stick with my prediction of SAS vs TOR for the Grey Cup.

The team 1040 is reporting that Calgary has offered John Huffnagle (SP?), the HC job.

Wow - I always thought higgins was an idiot but this is the second time he has been booted before the end of the season in the midst of the PO's

That's crazy. I wonder what it is... I guess on the surface Higgins never seemed like a player's coach.

Is Huffnagle the guy who was offensive co-ordinator for the Giants?

Only in Canadian based sports (I'm looking at you, HOCKEY) do you have coaches get fired right before the playoffs begin.

The Calgary Sun is reporting that the Calgary Stampeders have committed to signing John Hufnagel as their new head coach. A source close to the situation told the Sun that Hufnagel has already agreed to a six-year deal worth close to $2.5 million - making him the highest paid coach in the CFL.
Hufnagel, a former Stampeders quarterback and offensive co-ordinator, would earn approximately $400,000 annually, as well as be given a financial stake in the club.
Team owner Ted Hellard would not confirm the rumour, telling the Calgary Sun that "We as an organization are focusing on the playoff game and wish the media would do so as well."

The Stampeders will travel to Regina this Sunday to take on the Roughrider's in the West Semifinal. In regards to how talk of a coaching change might affect the team, current Stamps' head coach Tom Higgins responded "It's a distraction. I'm not sure why anyone would be talking about me when we have a football game to play."
The report states that Higgins would be offered a front office job, and George Cortez, a friend of Hufnagel, would remain as offensive co-ordinator.

Doesn't Tom Higgins not remind you of a guy who should be sitting in the stands with his kids watching the Stampeders as a fan rather than the head coach standing around on the sideline?

agree, this is the Roughriders year.

They're 11-1 to win the Grey Cup at 5Dimes. Seems like 11-1 to win 3 games is a bit outrageous for odds. If they win this one, they'll be maybe 6-7 pt dogs against BC, but I've gotta imagine they're favorites against anybody the East has to offer for the Grey Cup. I've got 4-1 on the Lions from the beginning of the season that I have no reason to not stick with at this point, though I'll probably end up taking the pts with Calgary/Saskatchewan winner against the Leos just in case.

11-1 is about right (not to say I don't like it). -280 for them to win this week, probably the reverse at about +240 next week and then it gets a bit interesting. If Toronto gets to the final then the odds would be probably close to 2-1 but if they play Winnipeg then maybe -150ish fav.

I've decided to go with a teaser for the semi-finals and hope everything works out... Winnipeg -0.5 / Calgary +13.5

I just don't see the Bombers losing this game to a dysfunctional Alouettes team, and I think that this Calgary/Saskatchewan game is going to be one of these 34-30 games where the team that has the ball last is going to win.

you cant convince me that teasers in the CFL are mathematically viable, they should be giving more points than they do in the NFL for them to be so.....
